Mary Phagan Case
This release of the 1913 Trial Brief of Evidence, presented in text, audiobook, and clipping video formats, stands as one of the most comprehensive public presentations of Leo Frank’s day in court as, primary historical evidence to date. Its purpose is to help preserve the historical record and make it available for independent study, free from ADL-style suppression, cancellation, or censorship. The material is also being mirrored on additional free-speech-oriented platforms to ensure long-term access in an era of increasing content restriction and cancel culture.

All 202 transcript clipping videos from the Leo Max Frank trial, spanning July through August 1913, are available on Minds under the channel Crime Time Capsule. It allows listeners and readers to examine the case exactly as it was presented in 1913.
Why Minds was chosen
In the past, when newly transcribed Leo Frank legal records were published on other media-sharing websites, those sites were repeatedly targeted by denial-of-service attacks, censorship pressure by Jewish advocacy groups, and hacking attempts. To prevent further disruption, the project was decentralized and distributed across alternative platforms that support First Amendment principles and the free expression of controversial historical material. So far we have experienced censorship on Flickr, Quora, Meta, TikTok and others.Â
Minds was selected because it allows these records to remain accessible without interference, but it also costs money to maintain a subscription for posting these videos because some of them are quite lengthy.
Trial timeline overview
Testimony in the Leo Frank trial took place from Monday, July 28, to Thursday, August 21, 1913. Closing arguments concluded on Monday, August 25, 1913. That same afternoon, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict. On Tuesday, August 26, 1913, Judge Leonard Strickland Roan affirmed the verdict and sentenced Leo Max Frank to death by hanging. The capital punishment sentence was stayed while appeals were pursued over the next two years. On June 21, 1915, Governor John M. Slaton commuted the sentence to life imprisonment, a decision that sparked widespread outrage due to his prior professional ties to Frank’s defense. Slaton was co-owner of the law firm that represented Leo Frank at his trial and subsequent appeals to the state supreme court.Â
