The Atlanta Journal,
Tuesday, 9th December 1913,
PAGE 5, COLUMN 3.
Joe Moore, a white boy, was sentenced to ten days in the stockade Monday by Recorder N. R. Broyles, when he was arraigned on a charge of begging on the streets.
It is alleged Moore was engaged in a conversation with City Detective Rosser, and that a short time later he hung a "deaf and dumb" sign on his coat and walked into a bar room soliciting alms.
The bartender knew of the conversation and advised the boy to "beat it," but he was arrested before he could get out of the back entrance, according to the report.
