MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga., Aug 10. When Dr. L. M. Harrison, the Columbus physician, completed his term of twelve months at the State Prison Farm last week, he at once went to Macon and married Miss Janie Lou Burke, the daughter of Captain J. M. Burke, Superintendent of the Farm, whom he first met a year ago on his first day in the Penitentiary.
The marriage did not become known until today. Miss Burke left here last Monday, ostensibly to visit friends in Indian Springs. Instead, she went to Macon. Dr. Harrison was released Tuesday and joined her there. The meeting was evidently prearranged but was kept secret from everybody. A telegram from New York today, where Dr. and Mrs. Harrison are on their honeymoon, brought the first news of the marriage.
Dr. Harrison was active in giving medical attention to inmates at the Farm. Miss Burke was a nurse and the two, therefore, met often. No inkling of their romance escaped them, however, and the marriage is a big surprise to everyone.
Dr. Harrison and Dr. J. W. Mc Naughton were the physicians who were given credit for saving Leo Frank's life by their prompt attention after he was cut.
